Posted: February 28, 2012 in Uncategorized

Hi all,

Welcome to Balbriggan Book Blog, this is a new venture for me and I’m sure it is for a lot of you too. Hopefully together we can get to grips with using the blog and it will become a fun part of our new project.

The project will be officially launched on Thursday 23rd February to coincide with World Book Day! I’m looking forward to reading Skellig again as I loved it the first time I read it. I’m also looking forward to seeing the film version when we go to the library to watch it!!!

I will try to keep you updated of any further events or activities as they are planned.

All the best,

Cathal.

Here’s the first two paragraphs of ‘Skellig’, I think it certainly builds an air of intrigue and anticipation!

I found him in the garage on a Sunday afternoon. It was the day after we moved into Falconer Road. The winter was ending. Mum had said we’d be moving just in time for the spring. Nobody else was there. Just me. The others were inside the house with Doctor Death worrying about the baby.

He was lying there in the darkness behind the tea chests, in the dust and dirt. It was as if he’d been there forever. He was filthy and pale and dried out and I thought he was dead. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’d soon begin to see the truth about him, that there’d never been another creature like him in the world.
